The Tours Focus...

This interactive tours are designed to engage audiences in the building of our nation through the context of populations that are not often talked about.  The English landed at Jamestown in 1607, however others also helped mold the nation we live in today.  Pres. Washington and Pres. Jeffereson lived in a class that was foreign to the majority of the population.

This tour unveils the stories of the Indigenous Americans, Africans, and other European groups like the Portugese, the Irish, the Dutch and the Spanish. These perspectives are highlighted in Jamestown, Virginia (the Settlement & National Park), Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown Virginia as well as other locations in the Historic Triangle.

From Slavery to Freedom
"A Society of Slaves to A Slave Society - The transformation of The American!"

A  program that has been engaging audiences in the 'black experience' for the last 30 years! Designed to bring oral tradition alive to guests of Williamsburg to engage in America's Story!

This show can be eloquently be performed with or without "THE SWEETEST SOUND" throughout the characterization, interpretations & perspectives of Africans transitioning to African-Americans. During this progression Sylvia utilizes an array of unique songs, stories and interpretive monologues of prominent historic figures, such as Harriet Tubman or Phyllis Wheatley, chronologically designed from Africa in the 1500's throught the 19th century. Typically given pre- or post tour/museum visits in order to carry the audience on an experiential learning roller-coaster of colonial America.

Sylvia & "The Sweetest Sound" soothes tough historical truths & interactivity immerses audience members in the heart of the lives of those who built America, despite enduring the affects of the Trans-atlantic slave trade in the 16th-19th centuries.  As a group audiences process the effects of time and evaluate the values that are still shared today. The presentation is beneficial at any museum, park, school or library.

African Tradition through Song, Dance & Storytelling
(TOURS FOR THIS PROGRAM ARE SITE SPECIFIC IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE AUTHENTIC HISTORY
OF THE AREA/ENVIRONMENT)

A program designed to bring the African village to life. Sylvia's method, as a Griot, utilizes the African proverb, "Each One Teach One", in order to engage audiences. Essentially facilitating the audience in delivering the performance themselves! Utilizing music, call-and-response, kinesthetic and tactile activities like drumming and dancing, Sylvia brings alive education curriculums by modeling the essence of education.

Never a dull moment, inspiring educators and students-of-ALL AGES benefit from the positivity generated in each and every performance. Typically utilized for school groups (SOLs & Common Core Initiative Standards) museums, national parks, and any other educational-entertainment venues.
